Develop and perform/ Weightlifting Coach
I’ve been in the weight room for over 20 years and have made a lot of mistakes. I think one of the best things I can offer people is my desire to keep learning and adapting. Growing up I was never the strongest, fastest, or most athletic. But, I was the most consistent and I showed up everyday. Year after year I stacked my experiences and made progress. I found love in the process and that is why I continue to train as much as my life can handle.
I grew up playing football, wrestling, powerlifting, and track and field. I was also an avid snowboarder, skier, and skateboarder. I found the most success in football as I was a 3 time all state selection in New York and would eventually be inducted into the capital district high school football hall of fame. I played college football at St. John Fisher and was a 3 time all conference selection at defensive end and an all northeast selection my senior year.
After college I pursued coaching immediately while in graduate school. I have coached high school football and wrestling. Specifically, I coached the defensive line which had 4 all conference selections and in wrestling I worked with the heavy weights which had 2 sectional champions and a third place finish at the state tournament. I currently am the throwing coach for Shaker high school’s indoor and outdoor track teams. On top of that I work with local sports teams to get their players stronger in the weight room and more resilient on the field.
As for my job at CrossFit Schenectady, I coach weightlifting and the develop and perform track. I believe there is a missing piece in fitness and that is the emphasis on sprinting, jumping, and throwing. I like to think of it as a missing key in fitness that CrossFit doesn’t necessarily hit on. Sprints, jumps, and throws are skills that tend to be lost as we age and I work with clients to tap into their younger selves and develop those skills once again. I look forward to working with all members young and old.
